pete let me pay an actual photographer to come to our house and take pictures of our family.

i still can't believe it.

i asked the kids for their ideas about the pictures.

lucy wanted to bake cookies.

unanimously they wanted pictures reading (dorks) and of all of us piled into our bed.

and finn was set on catan pictures.

sarah from arrow & apple did such a great job.

these pictures are a true family treasure.

if you live in phoenix, i couldn't recommend sarah enough.

i have decided my very favorite type of photography is that which captures people in their own homes living their lives.

this is the kind of photography i want to get better at.

and the lovely sarah behind arrow & apple is 

awesome at it.

and, after a little giggle, 

handed pete the directions 

and he put this right together for me.

so, miss dot may not have her own room or her own closet, but she has the cutest little rack you've ever seen to hang her own clothes on.

somehow i stumbled upon this site the other day.

the archibald project.

it is the documentation of adoptions so as to inspire adoption in others.

it is beautiful.

and it is sad.

i love it.

one of my very favorite photographers of late is 

kristin rogers.

i just adore the way she captures everyday life.

this family photo shoot, in particular is quite adorable.
