fancying.

donuts and bikes.
i don't believe there is a better combination out there.

fall flowers.
although flowers are usually attributed to spring,
there is something about the yellows and oranges
in this whimsical arrangement that makes me
want to plan a fall party...

this display.
i love, love, love it.
the hanging lights, the cakes on tree stands.
i want to go to there.

these dreamy printed towels.
they would give your kitchen
an instant happy feeling.
i'll take one of each, please.

this cozy photo.
coffee and toast and warm socks.
feels like fall, makes me happy.

a day late

so, i meant to share this yesterday, but then my internet
didn't really want me to, so i decided to go ahead
and post it today and fancying can wait til tomorrow.
decision made.

anyway, this is one of my very favorite blogs these days.
the pictures are so amazing, i want to jump right into them.  the light, the colors, the composition.
go off and enjoy them all for a brief bit of your morning.
oh, and she owns her very own adorable shoe shop,

happy tuesday!

wear.make.do.

wear a cheery yellow dress and instead of complaining about the lack of fall weather, enjoy one last weekend by the pool...  even if it is october.  (ok, this one might be just for me...)
make this horribly delicious sounding cake.  anything based on childhood snacks you know has to be good.
do watch this beautiful short video that will have you convinced of how relaxing it is to make ribboned asparagus salad.

fancying.

painted white floors.
not that i needed more convincing,
but this picture may have put me over the edge.
the little baby legs, might have helped a bit...
{from the amazing le dans la}

this photo wall.
actually this entire space.
the yellow chair is a very nice touch, as well.
{from mer mag}

this room.
can't pin point just what,
but i am quite drawn to it.

minimal and beautiful.
seriously, i just want to take pictures
of food all day long...

oh, to have high ceilings and wide open spaces...

jennifer causey

i am sure many of you know
from her fabulous project the makers,
but you should also take the time
(if you haven't already)
to check out her amazing portfolio.
i don't know what it is about photos of food,
but i could look at them all day long.
they make me want to photograph everything
i ever make...
perhaps, i should start trying my hand at more
food photographs over here...
hmmm....

wear.make.do.

wear your first little sweater for the season.  if you are lucky, you live somewhere that the weather permits more than just a tank top.  if you live in phoenix, rest assured, most restaurants, theaters, etc. will crank up the a.c. and you will be glad you have that cute sweater with you.  make some tomato soup with little grilled cheese skewers for your family or friends this weekend.  tasty and cute is always a good combination.
do check out the always fabulous and newly revamped lux if you live in phoenix (and if you're really lucky, you just might run into christine baking something delicious while you're there).  otherwise, visit a delicious coffee shop in your own neck of the woods.

have a grand time whatever you do this weekend!

ready for fall

{from bloom via pinterest}

i am certainly ready for fall these days.
even just a little bit of a chill in the air would be nice...
as it is, living in phoenix,
we may still have quite a wait.
here's to dreaming of cooler days
and hoping you live somewhere lovely
where the leaves may already be changing...

i think it is on my life list to attend one of their classes...

sweet spaces for kids.
i really love that wallpaper.

the happiness of these tiny tassels.
miniature makes everything cuter.

these sweet little dresses.

more dipped goodness.
how rad would these look sitting on your table
for your next dinner party?

to add to your box.

for those interested in trying our homemade s'mores
(and, i really think you should try them),
here is a little recipe sheet to print out for your convenience.
if you are anything like me,
you find it much easier to have the recipe on hand,
in the kitchen with you.
so print it out, make it and
then fold it up neatly and tuck it in your
recipe box to pull back out
whenever the craving strikes...

homemade s'mores.

another good time in the kitchen.
homemade graham crakers and marshmallows...
toasted in the oven.
a quite decadent dessert shall i say.
do give it a try as the weather cools down.
you will not be disappointed.

first cream 8 tablespoons butter, 2 tablespoons sugar,
2 tablespoons brown sugar and 2 tablespoons honey
in the mixer until soft and creamy.

sift together 1 c. flour, 1/4 c. whole wheat flour,
pinch salt, 1/4 t. baking soda and 1/4 t. cinnamon.
add to butter until just combined.

roll into desired thickness and cook at 350 until done.
i would double the batch, as it does not make very
much dough.  and you are going to want to eat them...
often.

now for those marshmallows...
mix 3 envelopes of gelatin (22g) and 1/2 cup of cold water
in bowl of stand mixer and let sit 10 minutes.

while waiting combine 2 cups sugar, 2/3 cups corn syrup
and 1/4 cup water to boil.
Once it has reached a full boil,
let boil for one full minute.
Remove from heat and pour over gelatin mixture.
Whip on high speed for about 10 minutes
until it resembles white fluff....similar to a meringue.
Add  1/4 tsp. salt and 1 tablespoon vanilla;
whip to combine.

Spread into lightly greased sheet pan and sprinkle
with desired decorations...and or fruit.
We used strawberries.
Let cool in fridge.
Once ready, cut into desired shape with
cookie cutters or a knife.

strawberries and white chocolate smores for the moms.
chocolate and sprinkles marshmallows for the kiddos.

broiled in the oven.
a trick my niece taught me.

ooey gooey, rich deliciousness.
enjoy!
