a little sparkle.

if you don't have sas where you live, i am sorry.
it is the most random and wonderful shop
for trimmings, fabric and more.
of course, don't go there if you are looking
for something specific.
it is a what-they-have-is-what-they-have kind of a place.
needless to say, lucy loves it.
(my boys, on the other hand,
groan at the mere mention of sas).
the second lucy walks through the door,
she will spot that little bit of sparkle
hidden somewhere in the piles and boxes that are sas.

here is what her last batch of goodies looked like...

it cost me $3.74.

and with just a little piece of the elastic sequins
(i am assuming intended for some sort of
dance costume...)
lucy helped me make this headband.
(it was one straight stitch to make it a loop,
but she is very proud that she "sewed" this little project).

so, if you have a little one who enjoys a little sparkle
in her life,
here is a 50 cent, 10 second idea that won't disappoint...

be honest, who doesn't love a little sparkle?

fancying.

this swimsuit rocks my world.
{from anthropologies swim line via mint design}

red and white stripes. they are just happy and
welcome the warm weather so joyfully.
lets go sailing and sing 'yes we have no bananas,
we have no bananas today!'

this fab rucksack to go with my swimsuit and stripey tee.
and to carry all my beach gear of course.
{from makr}

this wonderful picture is calling me
to plan a bike date with my husband.
double date anyone?

i want to live in this picture.
scones and homemade lemon curd, yes please.
coffee and cream, definitely.
that little knife, the towel, the table...
i plan on recreating this scene
(at least scones and coffee)
sometime this week.

i am so excited for picnic weather.
and this one looks just lovely.
{from niotillfem via pinterest}

this beautiful color palette.
coral, geranium, pink.
and, of course, the beautiful photograph of it all.
sure wish i could paint...

rachel papo

i could look at rachel papo's photographs all day long.
especially her several ballet series.
they are simple, beautiful and just about perfect.

the stories she tells with her photographs are captivating.
to look at such lovely, colorful pictures
and then think of the intensity
of a child's life in the world of ballet
is fascinating.

joys of spring.

hope your weekend was full of relaxation and that blissful
feeling only springtime weather can bring...
something like the feeling of pulling together the above outfit and
looking that incredibly splendid while munching on bon bons
on a blanket in the park.
one can dream.

i just love parties, too.

christine put on the most adorable birthday
for ruby last saturday.
as expected...
that christine has quite the eye for detail.
every little touch was just perfect.

the girlies drank juice from old milk jars,
ate homemade waffles with whipped cream and berries,
enjoyed the treasures from their handmade goodie bags,
proudly wore their princess headbands,
made party hats,
and giggled to their hearts content.
it was perfect.

oh, and you know you are at a good party
when even the adults are served a gourmet breakfast...

of course, dec was there stealing bacon...
and our hearts.
as usual...

and most important of all,
little miss 3 seemed to love every minute of it.

christine, you sure know how to throw a party.
thanks for a lovely time!

fancying.

this amazing open space.
that kitchen.
those doors.
all of it really.

i can't seem to get enough of closet visit lately.
i love the idea.  the styling.  the subjects.
this picture in particular is so lovely.
don't you want to be sitting at that bench,
drinking your coffee, enjoying those surroundings?

everything about this picture.
its simple and wonderful all at the same time.

this fabulous starburst antique block.
and the super cute little starburst cards
it was used to create.
ok, and the colors they come in are pretty fantastic, too.
i especially love the one that reads "mighty good."

this french handwritten menu.
everything written in french always seems
to be just a bit fancier and a bit more appealing.

i just want to believe that this really happened
and was not staged, as that makes it all
the more awesome.
{from conundrum}

all the images from these juju books,
most especially this whimsical outdoor party.
too bad the books are not in english,
i would buy it just for the eye candy. totally worth it.
{from fine little day. see the books here

the coveteur

i love this site.
i love the style and the photography.
but most of all, i love this quote...
"it's more interesting to have just a picture
of a small detail -
then you can dream all the rest around it.
because when you see the whole thing,
what is there to imagine?"
- dries van noten
