creature of habit.

i think this has been my breakfast every single morning
since summer began.
what can i say?
when i find something i like, i stick with it.
with all the delicious summer berries to choose from,
that is about the only thing i have mixed up.
strawberries, blueberries, raspberries
and occasionally blackberries or even bananas.
mmmm.  i love breakfast.

fancying.

i want my house to be just this simple.

seriously.
if i could have fresh flowers in my house every single day, i would.
florist.  someday.

i will just go ahead and come clean.
i love donuts.
so, so much.
so much so that i have hara donuts in tokyo bookmarked for
 "just in case i visit tokyo someday"...
i might have a problem.
{from flickr}

where do i sign up for this vacation.
it looks dreamy.

can't get enough.

sometimes i wish i lived somewhere that i could
grow peonies in my front yard.
they just make me so happy.
you know what else makes me happy?
artichokes.
this is the only time of year we get them,
so we have spoiled ourselves a few times lately.
we steam them, then throw them on the grill
for a few minutes
and then eat them with garlic mayonnaise.
yum, yum.
oh, to live like it was summer always...

fancying.

because there is nothing quite like eating outside,
under globe lights.
and good friends and good eats, to boot.
let's plan something.
{from minted}

i just really like this picture.
makes me want to chop my hair.
{from useful guilt}

i think i could live on toast and good cheese.
this looks so very delicious.

the light, the black wall,
the simpleness of this little corner.
i'll take it, please.

one more for my summer wishlist.
for the beach.
because you can never have too many bags.
i'll just have to try and make my own...

late breakfast and fresh air.

sleeping in, eating breakfast on the back porch, letting the kids go for a morning swim, reading, making lists and getting our week organized...
i just love june.
june in phoenix is hot and lazy and perfect.

market casserole

the best dinner i have made in a long time.
it is oh, so tasty.

here is how you layer it up...
israeli cous cous in the bottom.
roasted eggplant and onions next.
chopped zucchini after that.  {sprinkle with tony's}
slices of mozzarella.
slices of tomatoes. {more tony's}
bread crumb, garlic, parmesan and olive oil topping.
and more tony's.
bake at 350 for 20-30 minutes, until the top is
crispy, melty and delicious
and the cous cous is cooked all the way.

really you can put any vegetables you like in it.
*you may need to put just a little water or broth in the cous cous if you don't have enough juices from the vegetables.

and then, just enjoy it!

fancying.

love this whole mantle.
especially the mirror.
well, and all the little treasures, of course.

on my summer wish list.
if i had a summer wish list...
darn you, lucky june birthdays.
{from world market}

floor, photos, chair, yes.

this is like the grown up version of
hanging posters in your bedroom.
call it an inspiration board and you can tac and tape anything you like on your wall.
i love it.
{from let it be}

an ice cream crawl might be one of the best ideas someone has come up with in a long time.
another one to add to the summer list.

making pie.

not sure why, but every weekend this summer
i just want to make a pie.
i love the process (and the result).
and i always have an enthusiastic helper or two.
most recently we made a strawberry rhubarb pie.

but ours was half strawberries and half rhubarb
and we only used 3/4 cups of sugar.
it was plenty sweet and delicious.
so, turn on some patty griffin and make yourself a pie.

sprouted kitchen.

i am in love with this blog.
my two primary reasons for looking at blogs are
1. for recipes and
2. for beautiful and inspiring photography.
this blog has both.
do yourself a favor and check it out.
